I realize this thread is pretty old, but rather than start a new one....
I'd like to see smart image maps have the ability to set a map scale in the image (pick two points and define a distance) that enables use of a measuring tool to measure distances on the map (in miles, or km, or whatever). Kind of like the ruler tool available in google earth.
