No, Unarmed Parry is fine.
Dodge = move out of path of attack. Limited opportunities for counter attack, often used prior to disengaging from "in fighting" or grappling range.
Block = Stop attack in it's path. Used when attack is likely to be ineffectual, or when attack is not likely to be dodged or parried.
Parry = redirect or guide path of attack to someplace less damaging, or away from target. Parry is normally done to set up a counter attack, or as a portion of a counter attack.

Any of these can be done with or without weapons.

These concepts have been beaten in to my poor aching body by my fencing coach, my knife fighting instructors in the military, by three martial arts instructors teaching me different forms - Kendo, Jujitsu, and Tai Chi Chuan, and by the big guy with a dukal crown, white belt, and beats on me repeatedly with a rattan stick.
