You can also pick "Quick Edit Content/Scan for New Content Links..." from the Content Pane Options (Hammer and Wrench on top of the middle, or F7) menu. Not that that's any faster.
Here's one suggestion thread on the topic (I'm sure there's been a bunch):
Rescan ALL TOPICS for new content links.
