A great feature for maps would be the following:

Situation: A city or location is linked on a map to a Topic.

When inside that Topic, clicking on the Map Link on the right opens the map.
In the map itself, the Topic clicked from is highlighted or otherwise stands out.

This would be great for huge maps with lots of pins, giving an instant recognition of where a particular Topic is.
