So I have a component.

	</component>

and a compset

  <compset
    id="SkillGen">
	<compref component="SkillGen"/>
	</compset>

Those are both in the same .str file.

Now I also have some things.

  <thing
    id="sgRoll"
	compset="SkillGen"
	name="Roll"
	description="The character gets 3 rolls on the Growth and Learning tables for the choosen Background.">
	<fieldval field="sgSP" value="3"/>
	</thing>
	
  <thing
    id="sgChoose"
	compset="SkillGen"
	name="Choose"
	description="The character gets 2 choices on the learning table only.">
	<fieldval field="sgSP" value="2"/>
	</thing>

They are in a .dat file.

I have modifed form_config.dat to include the following in the cnfStart template.

<portal
	  id="skillgen"
	  style="menuNormal">
	  <menu_things
		field="acSkillGen"
	    component="SkillGen"
		defthing="sgRoll">
		</menu_things>
	  </portal>

When I load hero lab and select the game system the menu is not defaulting. It has no selection.
I have tried bootstrapping the things and using picks but that hasn't worked either. Is there may be something related to the file extensions being used?
