10 minutes is a very long time for a sync unless your connection is very slow. People have reported this a bunch and the solutions have varied.

You should try compressing your DB if you've ever imported anything.

The issue could also be that you have the DB on a mechanical HDD. Those laptop HDD's are very slow and if the thing is heavily fragmented doing a sync could conceivably take a while if the rest of the HW is also slow. If you do have a HDD run a defrag on it.
