This sounds like a bug. If you haven't uploaded any images yet, instead of saying that, our loading spinner spins forever. I've added an internal bug ticket for us to address that.
Fortunately, the workaround is easy: Upload an image, then it will be available for selection.
There isn't currently a build-in gallery of images to select from, although we would like to implement something like that in the future.
