Do *NOT* use JPEGs for bitmaps! Why? Because they won't work. Why didn't we
add support for this? Because a 16x16 bitmap (probably a bit large for
bitmaps inserted into description text) is actually smaller as a BMP than a
JPEG.
And besides, as long as a file is less than 64KB in size, it uses the exact
same amount of disk space on your computer. It doesn't matter whether it's
4 bytes in size of 63K in size. It still uses up 64K on the disk. So your
assertion is only valid for files larger than 64K and therefore not
applicable to data file authoring.
JPEGs are ONLY supported for card images, which are a completely different
matter.
