Damn! Nice catch. That takes a bit to back track to the rule. I read the lycanthrope change shape and finally say it says to see
Change Shape universal monster rule. Then it lists "polymorph" in the stat block. So had to reference the CORE book to get to polymorph and finally I see it has one important sentence
"If your new form does not cause your equipment to meld into your form, the equipment resizes to match your new size." is found.
No wonder someone quickly inputting these rules into HL could miss this....
