This brings up a point: what about the
Artificer class from
the Tome of Secrets? It uses 'weird science' instead of infusions, but otherwise has the same mastery of item creation and spell versatility. It's limited to mimicking 4th-level spells, which fits with the availability of low-level magic in Eberron.
How did the magewright turn out?
