TobyFox2002 - Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance and Ravenloft Update

TobyFox's Updates

Well ladies and gentlemen, my first update is here. This initial update is featuring some housekeeping changes and a small bug fix as well as some things I was working on for the files before RavenX handed them off to me. You may obtain the updates by entering the new update source link:

If you have never done this follow these instructions:

  1. When you start Hero Labs look for the blue button labeled "Find Updates" at the right, CLICK IT.
  2. You'll see many sources and five blue buttons, find the one that says "Add Source", CLICK IT.
  3. CLICK new source and enter the link below
  4. If you have the link to RavenX's files, remove it. Updating from both will cause you issues.

Dungeons and Dragons Conversion (v1.9)

This file is designed for compatibility issues with all of TobyFox2002's community files. It is required as a base for many spells that are required or referenced from inside individual Campaign Settings are not actually part of them. This file is not intended to continually add 3.0 and 3.5 Source-books to the mix. While it is possible that some classes will be added, if others are added they will be added as secondary *.user files. Additional d20 names, rules and house rule options may be added to this at a later time.

Added Precludes to hide Pathfinder names and replace them with 3.0/.5 names. At this time they are by default, turned on and cannot be turned off. In a future update I will impliment additional options.

Renamed Equipment
  • Apparatus of Kwalish
  • Heward's handy haversack
  • Iron Bands of Billaro
  • Quaal's Feather Token
  • Quiver of Ehlonna
Renamed Spells
  • Bigby's Spells
  • Drawmij's Spells
  • Evard's Spells
  • Eyebite (For Compatability)
  • Healing Circle (For Compatibility)
  • Leomund's Spells
  • Acid Arrow --> Melf's Acid Arrow
  • Mordenkainen's Spells
  • Magic Aura --> Nystul's Magic Aura
  • Otiluke's Spells
  • Otto's Spells
  • Rary's Spells
  • Sunbeam (For Compatibility)
  • Tasha's Hideous Laughter
  • Tenser's Spells
Ravenloft (v1.9)

  • All
Feats:
  • Alchemical Philosopher feats.
Dragonlance (v1.4)
No change or updates have been made to these files.

Dark Sun (v. --)
No changes or updates have been made to these files.

Error Message:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

File: Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting - Feats.user (line 551) - Thing - Duplicate record encountered ('fStreetSma')

This conflicts with the feat "Street Smarts" in the Ultimate Intrigue package.
It was an error I first encountered when the Ultimate Intrigue package was released, and I thought i had seen it reported in the RavenX support thread, but I guess not.

Silveras May 2nd, 2016 07:42 AM

Separate issue:

I have some concerns about the "Dungeons and Dragons Conversion" entry in the first post. As I read it, these changes are included in the Forgotten Realms and other setting material as well, creating dependencies between the settings and these changes.

I do not wish to see replacements of core materials made, especially as it seems to be only in order to use the proprietary D&D names instead of the SRD names. I am not sure, but the SRD names exist because the proprietary names cannot be used, so this might even violate the license terms.

These error messages appear when loading the new FR materials:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

Thing 'ioElHorRe' - Bootstrap thing 'sp35Sunbe7' does not exist
Thing 'ioFRAnsHar' - Bootstrap thing 'sp35HeaCr5' does not exist

I did not see that report, but then I had to go through alot of posts. I will fix this right away. In the mean time anyone who wants to fix this please change unique ID to: 'fFRStreeSm'. As that is what I will be using.

Gradually, I intend to convert the Unquie ID's of most items to include the "FR" prefix to prevent future issues, however doing so all at once would likely break things. I will probably create a duplicate file with the old ones to use for two or so updates until people have a chance to full switch over.

That file is for two purposes, one the replacement of the new names with the more 3.5 names (many of which are integral to the story of faerun, ravenloft or dragonlance or other legacy settings). And the second is to include spells and abilities that are required for things in said settings but never included as part of those materials.

The items you indicated are all of the latter. I will De-Source them until I can break this into two sources, one for the optional "old-names" and one for the legacy content required for other books.

As for it being a violation. If thats the case I'll remove all of the old names entirely and maintain that separate from everything else. However, I though the community content was already separate from everything officially released.

In the mean time until I push a fix for this you can either leave it checked and adapt, or manually go in and de-source those items yourself.

Just an FYI once I fixed this error I then get:

Code:

Hero Lab was forced to stop compilation after the following errors were detected:

Syntax error in 'pre-requisite rule' script for Thing 'fFREpInsRu' on line 1
-> Non-existent thing 'skuCrfWood' used by script

Looking into this you have linked your FR to a skill in the Basic Pack or now Pathfinder Pack.

I then removed that reference to the craft wood skill and I then got these errors:
Code:

Hero Lab was forced to stop compilation after the following errors were detected:

Thing 'iFRArbSwAg' - Bootstrap thing 'xxImmPatte' does not exist
Thing 'ioFRHarpPG' - Bootstrap thing 'xxImmMagMi' does not exist
Thing 'ioFRWhClSp' - Bootstrap thing 'spSpidCli1' does not exist
Thing 'rFRTressym' - Bootstrap thing 'raFCOpImPo' does not exist

These are Things from the Pathfinder GM Pack.

In this case if a person does not have the community Pathfinder pack and your FR addon installed it will not load. :(

Just any FYI is all...

I will create a folder with just the base packs and fix it so it works with just those.

TobyFox2002 May 2nd, 2016 10:06 PM

I have pushed a minor update to fix those problems with sourcing that you encountered.

I cleared through the unique ID conflcts, I think it should now run without the community packs.

The DnD Conversion file is STILL required however. I split that into two files. One that deals specifically with renaming. That I have placed under house rules so that the player or gm can choose to run with the default names or use the legacy ones. And a second file to include required 3.0 or 3.5 elements for Ravenloft, Dragonlance, and Forgotten Realms.

This is just the way I am going to do this. It is easier than creating things three different times to install with each of those packs. Furthermore it is very likely that the Ravenloft content will probably require the Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance and Conversion packs, simply because that is the universal DnD dumping ground for all things gothic (aka, Ravenloft is one giant crossover realm).

Dwayne May 3rd, 2016 09:06 AM

Thanks again for doing this. I have no problem how you are doing things.

Chemlak May 3rd, 2016 12:04 PM

Toby, I'm getting "The selected file is not a valid import file for Hero Lab. If the file was downloaded, it was likely corrupted, so please try downloading the file again."

Opening up the updates.xml and extracting the direct download links, the links to the individual files are all 404-ing. This suggests an error in the updates.xml not pointing to the correct file locations, so you might need to run through getting the update file readied again.

Thats odd. It worked when I tested them all after I uploaded earlier.

Regardless, I just did a check and re-upload of the updates.xml And it works once again.

So, just by having your D&D conversion installed, the proprietary names for spells are showing up even when I don't have that option checked. Is there a way to 'Replace Thing ID' only when the replacing source is checked? If not, is there a way to make the 'conversion' an optional file?

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you have updated? I have checked this twice since I saw your post and I cannot see any reason why you should be seeing those spells unless you have the house rule "Use Legacy Names" selected as a source.

With the exception of three Otiluke spells which were never converted as far as I know. Everything else is restricted to that house rule source. At least on my end.

And to answer your other question, most of my contributed material is from d20. If I didnt have this file there would be some items I would have to duplicate several times to source them as you would ask.

The files have already been split as you suggested, they just are part of the Dnd conversion file for download.

dereth66 May 4th, 2016 03:08 AM

Thank you very much for doing this it is working perfectly on my systemt thank you, only ting i did not load was the ravenloft files yet, as i dont use them very often,
Thank you for all the hard work

Mystic Lemur May 4th, 2016 09:21 AM

My bad. I noticed it while I was updating a PFS character, before I had updated my community files. Now that I have everything updated, it's back to normal.

You're awesome, TobyFox2002.

LazarX May 6th, 2016 02:10 PM

Should we remove RavenX's old files before downloading yours?

Mystic Lemur May 6th, 2016 03:01 PM

You don't have to. I removed the update source, but left the files intact, and I was able to update with no problem.

RavenX May 7th, 2016 08:02 AM

Toby's working on it. It's going to take him some time to get everything working in the xml updates file.

driZzt May 11th, 2016 04:18 AM

I just recently reinstalled Hero Lab cause I had some issues. After having installed the official game system updates alongside the current version of hero lab I tried finding the most recent versions of the community packages plus the Forgotten Realms Package.

Pathfinder Package 1.1 as described here.

Forgotten Realms Package from this thread of yours, TobyFox.

So first of all I cannot choose from any user content or furthermore 3rdparty things as I wanna configure my hero on hero lab.

Second I get the following errors, TobyFox:

http://s32.postimg.org/orybf9mlh/error_hero.jpg

TobyFox2002 May 11th, 2016 07:24 AM

It looks like you have not installed the DnD conversion pack. That pack is now required.

Burj May 16th, 2016 12:03 PM

hello how do I install the kank soldier mount into hero labs for pathfinder ?

I've never heard of anything like this. What book is it from?

EDIT:

Nevermind.. um.. I could try and add it, but I'd need to have information on them first. I'm really not going to be doing much with the Dark Sun, mostly because I really dont have any experience with it.

If you could point me in the direction of the stats for it I could enter it for you and update it with the next release.

TobyFox2002 May 16th, 2016 02:29 PM

Alright, I am coming to a point in my conversions where I'm about to tackle the Mystic (Dragonlance).

So, this class has caused problems for the d20 files, and so here is choice I am faced with. I can do this as archetype of Cleric that functions spontaneously or I can do this as a separate class.

I wanted to hear the thoughts of the community before I take a crack at it. I also have the issue of how the domains work, they add the domain spells to the cleric list instead of being a once a day use.

So, the two ways I could do that is simply have the domain their and the user would have to keep track of it, or I can try and dump the domain spells in the primary caster class. Again, what do you (the community want).

I found a different site, but the stats look very similar:
http://thecreaturechronicle.tumblr.c...411950688/kank
Only difference is that it is vermin vs animal type. I'll have to take a close look and see which it really matches. The Advancement is a fixed rate, I cant really alter that.

Burj May 16th, 2016 04:11 PM

I have been told mine counts as vermin

I would do this as its own base class. Have it add the domains normally, but have an eval script on a class ability pull the ClsScAllSp tags from the added domain and at the same time change them to ClsAllowSp tags, then push those ClsAllowSp tags to the class helper.

perhaps make a add on for hero labs a pack for exotic mounts might be more worthwhile then just adding the one only ;) no idea which of these are or are not allready in Hero Labs

MOUNTS :

Camel (war)
Heavy War Camel
Erdlu
Erdland
Kank worker
Kank Soldier
Crodlu (war)
Inix
Mekillot

It looks like you are missing the source file for forgotten realms. I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the faerun content.

I have never seen errors like those. That is for a wondrous item.. Um Cephalometer i think... They have three spells that can be used and have a duplicate field sDC.. I cant think of what could cause that. But I will look into it. In the mean time if you want to try and fix yourself. it is in Underdark.user.
-----
Problem diagnosed:
The wondrous item 'ioCephalom' has three bootstraps, in the most recent update something caused duplicates of fields attached to those bootstraps. If you go into the editor, in the Underdark.user. to the wondrous item listed and remove the sCL field that says MAXIMUM. It will compile. I will try and upload a quick fix for this tomorrow (later today). But, to be truthful I dont know if what I change on my end will stick or if the extra field will be added back. I shall see.

The issue been there for a long time I would guess. The latest version of HL binary now "checks" for duplicate fields being set and complains. Would not be surprised if you found its been there for years.

Yeh, I saw something about duplicates.. and funny cats... mean.. sarcastic.. cats...

I have fixed it on my end, but I have to see if I have an old version of the files to post a quick fix. It shouldn't be hard I have not touched Underdark.user in... well forever. I should be able to pull it from anywhere.

As for the other errors, the parent of source.. I have to do some searching, I'm about to head to bed, but I'll look into it first thing tomorrow. I have a feeling I know whats causing it.

I cant do a fast fix for this, load the upload below and the files should work. At the next update this should be fixed and you can use the Conversion material without the FR pack installed.

This is an issue with the most recent update to hero labs. A quick fix can be applied by dowloading and placing this file into your hero labs folder.

I've not tested it on a clean install, only with the packages I have, however since I have not tinkered with the Underdark it should work.

Wut? I considered trying to do something like that, but I didnt think it would be possible. I don't even know where to begin.

Create a class special called "Spheres" or whatever, then add this eval script

The script needs to run before the domains push their tags to the class helper, which is in "Set Domain Name" at PreLevel 10000, so we can set our timing at PreLevel 5000 for this eval script
Code:

~ PreLevel is too early to do the normal "are we too low level" stop, but there is a standard workaround for that using the foctoclass procedure
call foctoclass

doneif (state.isfocus = 0)

doneif (focus.field[cTotalLev].value < tagvalue[ClSpecWhen.?])

~ Do our usual stop if disabled
doneif (tagis[Helper.SpcDisable] <> 0)

~ Foreach through all domains on the hero which have been added to our Mystic Class. I am assuming the unique ID for this class is cHelpMys
foreach pick in hero from BaseClrDom where "CustTaken.cHelpMys"
~ pull the Domain Spell tags (ClsScAllSp) from the current domain to this class special, changing their tag group to ClsAllowSp at the same time
  perform eachpick.pulltags[ClsScAllSp.?,ClsAllowSp]

~ Now delete them from the domain we just pulled from
  perform eachpick.delete[ClsScAllSp.?]
  nexteach

~ Now we just need to get the tags we pulled from ourselves to the class helper. We already set the focus to the class helper earlier, so we can just use that as a shorthand
perform focus.pushtags[ClsAllowSp.?]

As usual, code not tested, tweak as necessary.
