MechWarrior Questions

I've been playing around with CV for a couple of days, trying to get
an idea of what it can do before I plunk down my $30. I'm a fairly
novice MechWarrior Clix player and like the idea of force building
and inventory control provided by CV. A question if anyone can help:

Is is possible to "output" the "click levels" to the force roster?

I can check with the data file author, but thought I'd try here
first. Also I'm curious why the electronic license isn't a bit
cheaper than a physical copy.

I'm not sure, but I assume the costs of paying for the e-commerce
solution, security implementations, etc etc etc are somewhat
comparable to printing the box and burning a cd. So if the difference
is negligible, why create different price points to screw up
accounting? all that math is hard enough ;)

Abilio
Just guessing, really. Has no clue whatsoever.

MechWarrior Questions

Since we maintain the data files for all WizKids games, here is as good as
place as any to post questions about WizKids data files. :-)

Back when Mage Knight first came out and WizKids gave us permission to
write Army Builder data files for the game, they requested that we NOT
output the click level data on printouts. The logic was simply that viewing
the click data during force construction made sense to help optimize the
force. However, during gameplay, the click data should NOT be available,
since it could be construed as an unfair advantage by an opponent.

With the switch to Card Vault and inclusion of all the new WizKids games,
all the licensing remained basically the same. If there's a strong cry for
including this information within Card Vault, we can ask WizKids to
reconsider their position. However, I personally still think the logic is
valid, so I'm hesitant to ask WizKids unless there's strong support for the
change. :-)

As for the electronic license being the same price, Abilio is 100% on
target. There's a significant investment in developing and maintaining all
the electronic licensing and ordering mechanisms. And having different
price points is a nuisance to manage. In addition, we're committed to
supporting the local retailers, and discounted prices for online sales
would undercut the retailers that sell and promote our products. Combining
all those factors, we've chosen to just sell the electronic license at the
same price.

Thanks, Rob

MechWarrior Questions

Rob,

Thanks for the clarification on the clix level outputs, and the
licensing pricing, both good explanations. It's my understanding the
MechWarrior units and forces may have custom notes. These could then
be output on a force roster. Is my understanding correct? I'm still
playing around with CV, but finding it very useful. Well worth the
thirty bones. Look for my license order soon. - Aron

You can set notes for the whole army by using the "Edit Army Notes" item
under the View menu, or for an individual model by selecting "Edit Model
Notes" from the Model menu. These can then be optionally included when
printing the army, by checking the "Include custom notes" box on the Output
dialog.
