Hero Lab in LINUX

Hi, just joined, and wanted to say to any Linux users, that HL works perfectly on Wine 3.0 (last stable version as of June 16th 2018) , making sure you have installed anything you might need to run Steam. ;)

I usually manage several Wine versions through PlayOnLinux, but after installing HL in the same 3.0 virtual drive I have my Steam (for those few games I own that aren't for Linux), the program works awesomely well (been using it for hours with no glitches or crashes). :D

Anyway, just wanted to share that. Sorry if I made any grammatical mistakes, English isn't my main language. :)

Thanks for letting us no, marianojoey, and welcome to the forums!

I'm sure that Aaron will "fix" this in the next release. :-)

(Me, tomorrow afternoon: "Hey, why are all my license keys suddenly invalid?")

You overestimate both my importance and my ability, EightBitz. I am but a lowly peon toiling away in the data file mines. ;)

Is Colen still the primary developer of the application?

Colen moved on to a new company. Mathias is the Data File Team Lead and a new guy, Dave Miller, has taken over the developer role Colen used to fill.

Ah. ^_^ Good to know so that I don't ping Colen's address when I run into issues.

One of these days, I'll get back to Planet Mercenary...

As every defeated supervillain will tell you, never underestimate the importance or abilities of lowly peons.

They're the ones who know all the weaknesses in the master plan.

I had actually Just come here to see if it was possible to run Hero Lab on Linux. I want to learn Linux, and bought a laptop for that express purpose. The more I can rely on it, instead of my windows machine, the more I can use it to learn with. Thanks for this post!

Now to figure out what I need to use, to run steam...

I've been running it on Ubuntu 18.04 for several months without problems. The app and data sets update fine. You'll need to install Wine since HL is a Windows app. I didn't have to do anything special to get it working, just ran the installer.

I had problems with Mint 18 not being able to connect to the LoneWolf website but I'm sure it was something I didn't have set up right within either Mint or Wine.
