Start up error.

I'm getting this error when I try to run the 4e builder.

This forum may be glitched for me as I can only see forum post and nothing else. Which is very weird.

That sounds like something broke in your install; that's a syntax error, which if it was normally there would be showing up on all of us. I'd try reinstalling 4e.

I'd reinstall 4e by finding the directory in ProgramData (typically C:\ProgramData\Hero Lab\data\4e) and deleting the entire folder.

Then do the download of 4e again.

I've tried deleting everything to do with 4e from the builder and reinstalling Hero Labs entirely, uninstalling and deleting every Hero Labs file I could find except my character portfolios and it's still not working.

cryptoknight, do you know where the part of the data files that's throwing the error is? I've been all through my 4e install and I can't even find the string "sklTrained".

cryptoknight March 20th, 2016 05:58 PM

I think it's part of the core... sklTrained looks like it would revolve around identifying if you had a skill trained or not based on its name.

When you get to the import screen, check the box to delete anything not in the package. I still think you've got something left over causing the problems. I cannot replicate this, not on my laptop, nor my desktop, not in Windows 10 or 7

I tried that and it still didn't work. This is bizarre, my friend's hero labs 4e all work correctly. I can't understand why it's not working at all.

Yeah, this error has cropped up now and then for a long time, only showing up on a scant few systems, and frustrating all attempts to track it down. It's the height of annoying.
