Question - How do modify Ranged Defense due to quickened Deflection Spell?

NPC has a quickened deflection spell on them.
The Spell adds 1 Defense to ranged attacks per hit/success.

Say an NPC gets 5 hits on the spell.

How would I cause the NPC's ranged Defense to go up by 5?
