SR5: Advances Tab - The Save/Convert Karma Selector is Not Working

Actually I don't think its a bug... all you need to do during character creation to convert Karma to cash is spend more than the money you start with... that convertor is used after you lock the character and earn more.

So how do you add to your starting cash? I mean if I have karma left over I want to convert in order to raise my starting spare cash to the 5k limit and not have it spent on gear how do i do that?

On the advances tab, there a selector that you can use to decide whether your leftover karma should be saved as karma or turned into cash.

Which appears to be grayed out and unusuable.

Yep that was the bug I reported. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

So... not to necro a thread, but I can't seem to find an answer on this one anywhere else... is this still a bug? Or is there a feature at work I don't understand?

Relevant info on the character I'm working on: I've spent 468,260 out of 450,000 nuyen in character creation, I have 15/25 karma spent. I'm hoping to convert 10 karma into the 20,000 nuyen I need to cover overages (the max allowed, according to CRB 94).

On the Advances tab, the arrows for 'Karma saved for later use: 7 < > +0Y Starting cash' are greyed out, so I can't move the slider about for the extra cash.

What am I missing?

That karma to cash conversion has already been performed automatically, so because 10 karma has already been turned into cash, it won't let you adjust the slider to go to 11 karma converted.


Look in the "Basics" summary panel (the column on the right-hand side labeled Basics) - there, it will tell you how much karma has been spent on various categories.
