No, seriously. I was Born and grew up in the states, but both of my parents are German. We spoke German at home and I learned English from those around me. Now both languages are my mother-tongue.:cool:

Attended some English-only conferences as a speaker, published an essay and participated in a dig in the US. I also love to read my books and watch my films in the original language.
Hence I am C2 (CEFR) certified, but a bit rusty right now.

Archaeology or paleontology?

Archaeology or rather prehistoric anthropology. I participated in a training excavation at Cahokia carried out by SIUE and Georgia Augusta (my alma mater).

Cool. Cahokia has always fascinated me. I'm more of an amateur paleontologist but the Mississippians disappeared, if that is even the right word, so soon before European contact but we seem to know so little about them.

I hope you enjoyed your time in Southern Illinois. A good friend is a professor at Carbondale.
