File Structure for locations
 

Heylo, Newbie here.

Looking through the Categories, I see there are some default "Region:" tags, has anyone put together some tags/structure around developing worlds with more details Regions?

I.e.

• Region: Planet (or world)
• Region: Continent
• Region: Empire
• Region: City-State
• Region: City
• Region: etc..

Also side content, looking to use a single "Realm" to hold all my worlds, is that a good idea or is it better to break things down into separate realms?

Better versed users will soon give you more details, but I'll share what I prefer:
creating several realms as overarching categories so that then I can join them into one when needed.

It makes it easier to create several tiny beasts that converge to create as many huge beasts you want, then to toil in a big beast that makes you lose sight of where you are.

In my case, I use RW to organise my worldbuilding notes. And to worlbuild, too.

I use one realm per "world." I can see no benefit to having unrelated worlds in the same realm.

Ok, so the list I have so far for locations are:

Crystalsphere
world(or planet/celestial body?)
Continent
Realm
Empire
Kingdom
State
Province
Metropolis
City
Town
Village
Hamlet


Should I make these categories or use them as tags?

Would there be any significant difference between the default snippets of each? If not, IMO, they shouldn't be different categories.

By and large any settlement no matter the size will have roughly the same default snippets so those should definitely just be tags. The same for the various nations/ political subdivisions and the geographic regions.

Yeah, the more I think about it tags make sense.
Though I still like the idea of categories for drill down on the following elements:
Continent
Realm
Empire
Kingdom
State
Province

And then tags for
Metropolis
City
Town
Village
Hamlet
