Trouble since new update
 

I updated today, and there seems to be some problems. I can't choose race, class, or feats. And the sample characters seem to be missing a ton of files. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same trouble?

Did you run the downloader again?

yep, ran it twice just to make sure, still the same problem.

Any word on whats up with this? When I try to choose any of the things I listed above a box pops up and says "Nothing To Choose From!" I've ran the downloader several times and it doesn't fix the problem. And when I open the SampleCharacters.por file I get this:

Portfolio created with different version of product. Compatability is unknown but attempting load anyways.

seems like some stuff was missing when I downloaded the last set of files.

It's possible you imported the new 4th edition files to a different folder from where they originally were. When you load Hero Lab, how many "4th edition" entries do you see on the "Select a Game" screen? Is there more than one? (You might have to scroll the window to see the second "4th edition" entry.)

Alternatively, did you install Hero Lab in the same place as the old version, or did you install it in a new folder? If you installed HL in a new folder, you'll need to run the downloader in the new folder for it to have any effect.

Its all in the same folder, but I figured out that running the downloader fixed the problem.

The only backgrounds that are loading from my DDI data are the Forgotten Realms ones--no Scales of War, no PHB2, no Dragon.

The other backgrounds missing is probably still WotC's doing - http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=8902

Correct. The Backgrounds aren't listed in the D&D Compendium yet - hopefully they'll be added soon, just as happened with Deities a few months ago.
