PDF plug in messed up Herolab

I installed the new pdf plug in and now I get the error "Herolab.exe - System Error The program can't start because pdflib.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Well I did reinstall and I still get the error. Does anyone even check if updates work before posting them?

I should mention that I do not get the error with the 64 bit beta.

Hey there,

Restart your computer.

When you install software that uses the pdflib.dll dependency, the software should automatically register the file for you. In some cases, your DLL file may not register properly, and as a result, will provide a "pdflib.dll not registered" error. Fortunately, you can use a built-in utility called "Microsoft Register Server" (regsvr32.exe) to re-register your pdflib.dll file.

How to re-register pdflib.dll from an elevated command prompt (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10):

Click the Start button.
Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
Click Yes.
Type the following command: regsvr32 /u pdflib.dll.
Hit ENTER. This will UN-REGISTER your file.
Type the following command: regsvr32 /i pdflib.dll.
Hit ENTER. This will RE-REGISTER your file.
Close the command prompt window.
Re-start the program associated with pdflib.dll error.

Let me know if that takes care of the problem.

Thanks!

I did everything you listed and it did nothing. I still get the error.

Thank you for trying! There are a few new reports in about this issue and we're looking into it.

Thanks. It did encourage me to try the 64 bit beta. It is working fine.

I am also getting that error :x any help for it yet?

If you're seeing an error message about the PDF Plug-In not being able to be installed, it's the Hero Lab program itself that's preventing the PDF Plug-in for Windows from properly installing. So the workaround for that is to download the PDF Plug-In for Windows, then launch it, then select "yes," and then when you get the error screen just close out of Hero Lab by selecting "Finished" and then "Exit." Once Hero Lab is closed, go back to the error message and select "Retry."

Did that solve it?
