I recently updated my Hero Lab(for pathfinder) and have encountered an error that I ran into last year when I had updated Hero Lab. When the Pathfinder Rules System is loading I get an error that reads:

File: PFRPG - Spell Compendium.user (line39043) - Thing Duplicate Record Encountered('cdDragon')

File: PFRPG - Spell Compendium.user (line39055) - Thing Duplicate Record Encountered('cdMoon')

I cannot for the life of me remember what I did to fix this error last time, and it stopping any of my 3rd party and my own user created content from appearing in Hero Lab, as well as preventing me from creating anything in the editor, when I attempt to test/save new rules, etc in the editor I receive this message again.

As far as I can tell I have completely deleted the spell compendium from my PC and am unable to find any files labeled cdDragon nor cdMoon. Oddly I can find the Cleric Domain Dragon in the game but not the Moon domain. At this point I don't even care about getting the spell compendium back I just want to be able to use the Editor.

Thank you so much for any help, I love you product!!! - karlbadmanners -

First of all, if anyone has completed the Expanded Spell-less ranger for Hero Lab and wants to share, I would be eternally grateful.

Here is the problem I am having. The Spell-less Ranger has Ranger tricks like the Rogues. One they can choose is called "Combat Trick" and gives you a bonus Combat feat.

I am creating the traits in the "Custom Ability" tab and it seems to be working as it should, but I cannot get the "Combat Trick" to allow a Bonus Combat feat. When building the character, the Hunter's Bond works in the "ranger" tab in Hero Labs, the "Ranger Feat" trick properly allows for a bonus Ranger feat in this section as does the Combat Mastery selection.

If I choose the "Combat Trick" option, it says I can choose a bonus feat, but when you select it, it lists no feats. It just says "custom feat."

Here are all the options I have for "Combat Trick," which is a copy of the Rogues of the same name.

The option for "hide primary" is selected. It is also set to be used with the Spell-less Ranger.

Suggestion idea: Group Licences

Okay, so I've flicked through the forums, and found a lot of Licencing issues being raised.

So i realize that due to piracy, and the cost prohibitive method of changing anything, that you guys will likely not change your licencing any time soon, But that being said, i think i have an idea that might help out some gaming societies who adore your work.

To give you my personal situation, then the idea, as to provide logical progression.

Our gaming group found out about this wonderful piece of software, (HL) a few months back. Our Treasurer decided that sure, we could buy a copy of the things for the GM's, and see how it does. We bought almost all the material, and used all four of our serials so that as a society, we could test the software out and see if we wanted to roll it out to our players.

After a few months, we all decided that we liked the software, and as such we wanted to roll it out to all our players, using our group account, so that everyone would have all the same access and information.

now the snag. we are only allowed 4 licences, before we have to re purchase everything. now, normally that would not be an issue, but as has been mentioned in other threads, just for one system we would be looking at over $100. And that's before as a society we start offering HL support for multiple systems.

So my suggestion is as follows.

Keeping in mind that you guys are a business, and while we can hope things come for free, i realize they don't, so Create a Group Serial.

If the packages cost us 50% more for the initial purchase, but we can buy extra serials at the $10 price, we would be more than happy to expand further into this product.

at the moment it seems like HL is aimed at individuals, and that LW has no support for societies or other groups that might approach them. Considering how the serials are currently managed, this implementation would not be very time consuming in terms of code, in fact, most of the work would be done server side with almost no effect upon the current user base.

Looking forward to your response,

I'm running Hero Lab on a MacBook with Mac OS X version 10.6.8. My processor is 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

I own a D&D Insider account. I used the ddidownloader_mac program to "2. Download data (with D&D insider account)."

Then, I went to create a character using the 4th edition D&D system, presumably employing the character options I downloaded with the ddidownloader_mac program. Unfortunately, I couldn't choose many important options; Hero Lab says "Nothing to choose from!" It says this in the Class, Race, Deity and other fields. In addition, in fields like Feats I can only add custom options—I effectively have nothing from which to choose except user-created material.

I see that other people encountered that problem on Windows platforms, but I haven't found satisfactory answers for this issue on Macintosh. What step should I take next?

I've noticed that with the 'Dimensional Pocket' power, the list of Power Drawbacks, Extras, Feats & Flaws has one called "Feat: Progression, Portal Size" that correctly is greyed out because it only beomes available if the power has already had "Extra: Portal" applied to it.

My question is this: why doesn't "Feat: Progression, Portal Size" show up on the list when one is working with the 'Teleport' power which also has the option of being a Portal?

If the absence from the list was just an oversight, then I request that this Power Feat be added to Teleport's list of possible Power Drawbacks, Extras, Feats & Flaws. :)

Thanks in advance,

When I am building a character that has domains, and I click on the area to add domains, it pulls up the window with the domain list.

The problem that I see here is that some domains have some details, and some have none.

Is this behaving correctly?

Is there a way to get it to display the information on what its going to add to your character, because having it say, Appears in the advanced players guide, kind of defeats the purpose of having a tool that's supposed to do that for you. Especially when the info is clearly there somewhere as when you pick it it applies changes to your abilities.
