I just posted the V1.1b update for Hero Lab. This release includes a few enhancements, the most important of which are lots of new tutorials for using the Editor to create custom data files. This release also includes a number of fixes to bugs that have been reported.

The most obnoxious of these bugs is an issue with the integrated Updates mechanism. However, this problem has NOT been fixed in the current V1.1a that you currently have installed on your computer. This means that, if you use the Updates mechanism of V1.1a to install the V1.1b release, you will likely encounter a crash just before Hero Lab tries to exit and launch the installer. Consequently, the easiest way to obtain this new update will be to download it directly from our website. This can be accomplished via the URL below.

A list of the key enhancments and bug fixes will be found below.

1. Added lots of new tutorial information for using the Editor to create your own custom content.
2. Rewrote all the existing tutorials to make them easier to use, including screen shots.
3. Added a new reference document about the editor.
4. Feats that allow you to select additional data (such as Weapon Focus and Spell Mastery) now have that extra data appended to the name shown on the Specials tab and on the printout (i.e. Weapon Focus now displays as "Weapon Focus - Longsword").
5. Made class levels slightly simpler to edit.
6. The "Create Panel" button in the editor now automatically fills in the linked panel id when used. This fixes the annoying "panel linkage not found" errors that custom classes were experiencing. To apply this fix to an existing custom class, simply create a new panel for it.
7. Packages were not properly tracking the identity tag assignments for component sets. This manifested as error messages when skills and languages were defined within user-created data files.
8. Packages were not properly tracking the existence of arrays and matrices within component sets. This manifested as all directly assigned array/matrix field values being treated as zero for user-created data files.
9. Installing V1.1a over V1.1 via the integrated Updates mechanism would cause Hero Lab to crash during program exit due to a window cleanup issue.
10. Integrated Updates mechanism when installing a Hero Lab update no longer requires the user to respond to the installer. It's now entirely automatic.
11. Assigned identity tags were not being properly copied to a new thing from its source when created within the Editor via a "New (Copy)" operation.
12. Plus of a variety of other tweaks and fixes.

The complete list of program changes will be found in the readme.txt file installed with the update. The complete list of d20 data file changes will be found in the data file FAQ.

Have fun!
