View Full Version : Enhancement Request: Option to Print Spell Book

My guess is this may already be planned, but I'd like to be able to print a list of spells in a character's spellbook... the ability to choose memorized spells from the character's book (and have those spells printed on the character sheet) is cool, but I think that implementation is more useful for folks that play with a laptop on hand. When I play paper & pencil, I'd like to print off the list of spells in the spellbook and pencil check the spells the character is memorizing each game day. I dug around the menus and such, but didn't find a way to print the spellbook, nor did I find an option to print it with the character.

We already had 'print memorized spells' planned, but not the spells
in your spellbook, though it's a good idea. We'll definitely add that
to the list (although it might be a separate sheet - there'll be a
lot of spells in your spellbook, and you might just want to print the
ones you've got memorized.)

Thanks!

Separate sheet with minimal formatting is fine... say breaks between level groupings.

Sort options within levels would be cool, default being spell name, but school then spell name might be handy sort for specialist casters.

Another nice option would be spell details... to facilitate formatting I'd suggest utilizing the Summary tag for spell notes, and keep the printable field length to whatever number of characters can fit Spell Name and Summary on one line... of course if you enable more formatting and templating, I don't think anyone will complain :-)

I like the memorized spell list print out, but still don't see an option to print a Wizard spell book. Since most of the gaming sessions I play in span several game days, I frequently change my memorized spells to meet the needs of each game day. Since I do not take a computer to the game sessions, I still have to maintain a separate file with a list of my Wizard's spell book spells and print from that spell book file before a game session so that I know which spells I can choose to memorize each game day. I'd still like to see an option to print a Wizard's spell book, and I'd like to see an option where I don't have to pre-select memorized spells for Wizard characters to meet validation rules (since I change them regularly).

I've just added this, so it should appear in the next release of HL. :)

I'll see how easy it would be to add a ruleset for this, also.

Thanks,

Actually, if the option to not validate memorized spells proves difficult to implement, I can live with the validated list as my "default" list of memorized spells and use the spell book print out to note the actual spells memorized each game day.
