I've spent a good deal of time getting started on building my modified Golarion, and I had a couple of quick questions:

1) It appears all contained topics are set to expand by default when the software is opened. Can this be changed to have them collapse instead, or even better, some of one and some of the other?

2) When adding points of interest on a map, there's a limit to the amount of text that can be entered. Writing in the GM section helps but there's still a limit. Can the limit be removed or modified?

3) On the Timeline, it looks like any dated entry in any character's Background section populates the timeline. Can this be modified so that only designated entries appear?

Thank you! Loving the software.

Instead of using the text boxes provided, link to content using the button at the top of the screen. Then you can enter as much info as you like.

1) No. This has been suggested in the past. It's more complicated than it seems....

2) Edit pin. Click the globe at the top. Select the topic that you want to associate with the pin. Done. Now when you click the pin it will automatically go to the topic.

3) No.

1) There are keyboard shortcuts to fully expand and fully collapse the tree now. Ctrl '-' will fully collapse the tree. Ctrl '=' will expand it to get to the current topic.

If you use dates sparingly, then you should consider modifying the category structure to simply not auto-add the date snippets when creating new Individual topics. This is perfectly safe to do and does not require removing protection on the category. When you create a new Individual, it will NOT have the date-based snippets, so nothing will appear in the timeline. However, for NPCs that you DO want the dates, you can add the snippet manually via the Options menu.

Hope this helps!

Thanks rob, that did help!

New question, very quick: I have a homebrew rule where every character has an Elemental affinity. I'd like to add this as a tagged snippet on the Individual category. I started to remove the category protection but got a warning message that this could mess with importing content in the future. Is it safe to add additional snippets to the template?

If RealmWorks allows you to add a new snippet to the category without having to break the protection on it, then go ahead and do it. :-)

Better to make a copy of the category and modify the copy.

Adding is about the safest change you can make. The big concerns with removing protection are removing things that would be needed later, and changing the meaning of existing things.

For example, changing the meaning of a "Gender" tag where "Male" becomes "Cyber-augmented" and "Female" becomes "Non-augmented" changes the purpose/meaning of the tags.. and future content using the normal tags would not look right in your realm.

Adding a new tag domain for "Cyber augmentation" and adding a snippet that uses them to a Category definition are much, much safer.

Thanks Silveras, I think I'll risk it. Maybe I'll have the tag all the way down in the Additional Information category, where it'd have the least chance of mucking things up.
