MTG Online

I have both physical MTG cards and the nes for the online version of
the game. Any suggestions for using Card Vault with BOTH MTG
physical cards and Online cards?

I would hope the next version will have "Online" as an available
version of the card.

But in the meantime, there are three possibilities I've thought of.

A) Clunky but workable.

Using the "Aquire" field and value to list my online cards QTY and
the BUY field for the value. It's easy enough to edit the final HTML
output column headers for my list.

B) Install a second copy of CV for the other collection

How does this mesh with the licensing? Is it even possible to have
two copies installed on the same system? Besides, I'd rather have
just ONE list of all cards, not two seperate lists.

C) XML Modifications

Is there an easy way to edit the various XML files to allow this
now? By creating a new "version" of each card called ONLINE? This
seems like the best option, but I think it may be beyond me. Any help?

My thoughts on these options....

A) You're right. Very clunky but it does work. Look at option D before
doing this.

B) CV does not support a second installation of the product. Both instances
will get confused with each other, since they would share the same Registry
settings.

C) Since you are likely going to track both standard and foil cards, you
need to add a new quality rating instead of a new version of the card. The
set of card qualities is fixed within Card Vault, so it cannot be changed.

D) You can make a copy of the data files instead of installing the product
twice. Within the "data" folder beneath CV, you'll find a folder named
"Magic". This is where all the MTG files are stored. You can copy this
folder to "MTGOnline" (or some such). Then you need to edit the file
"magic.def" and locate the "structure" XML element. Change the value of the
"folder" attribute to the new folder used for the MTGOnline cards. You
should probably also change the "game" attribute within the "game" element
to differentiate the game system name. When you next launch CV, you should
see a separate game system listed for MTGOnline cards that you can use for
those.

I'll look into adding a new quality rating for CV in V1.1 for online cards.
If it's not much work (I honestly don't know right now), then it can be
added. Otherwise, it will need to go on the todo list for a future update.
