Help with bad file

bshaffner

New member
I figure this is probably a loss, but nothing hurt to try:

One of my .por files won't happen. Error message is something to the effect "make sure files exists, or game data files are loaded."

I'm guessing it's probably corrupt and kaput. Though, clicking on the properties shows the file to still be the size that it should be -- it doesn't appear the data has been wiped out.

any suggestions?

You may want to try opening that .por file and a working .por file in a text editor like notepad - see if the first couple of lines look like the same thing. I don't know how it could have happened, but hopefully it's just some bad XML.

Or, go ahead and email it to me - my email address is my user name here, @wolflair.com - I can see if there's anything wrong with the raw data.

Thanks, good to know for future reference.

Alas, it appears this particular file was wiped blank, for some unknown reason.....
